الباطن

Al-Batin

The Hidden

Meaning

Al-Batin is the Hidden — the One whose essence cannot be perceived by human senses, whose true nature is beyond our comprehension. While His signs are manifest, His essence is hidden. No eye has seen Him in this life, no mind can fully comprehend Him, and no description can fully capture Him. This hiddenness is not a deficiency — it is a necessity. Our limited faculties cannot handle the full reality of Al-Batin. When Musa asked to see Allah, the mountain crumbled and he fell unconscious — even the mountain could not bear the manifestation. Yet despite being hidden from our senses, He is closer to us than our jugular vein. He is hidden yet intimate, unseen yet near, unknowable yet deeply felt in every sincere heart.

In the Quran

Surah Al-Hadid (57:3): "He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden (Al-Batin), and He is, of all things, Knowing."

Daily Reflection

You cannot see Al-Batin, but can you feel His presence in your life? In the guidance of your heart, the answers to your prayers, the "coincidences" that saved you?

Today's Action

Cultivate your inner spiritual life today. Al-Batin values what is hidden — your secret prayers, your private du'a, your internal struggle against sin. Focus on your inner state today.

Dhikr

يا باطن (Ya Batin)

Say it 100 times, connecting with the One who is beyond perception but closer than close.

Dua

اللهم يا باطن أصلح باطني وطهر سريرتي

O Allah, the Hidden, rectify my inner state and purify my secret thoughts.
