الغفار
Al-Ghaffar
The Ever-Forgiving
Meaning
Al-Ghaffar is the One who forgives sins repeatedly, abundantly, and perpetually. The form "Ghaffar" in Arabic indicates intensity and repetition — He does not forgive just once, but again and again, without limit. No matter how many times you fall, Al-Ghaffar is ready to forgive when you turn back to Him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that even if your sins reached the clouds of the sky, then you sought Allah's forgiveness, He would forgive you. This name is a source of immense hope — for those who feel their sins are too great, Al-Ghaffar's forgiveness is greater. He covers sins, conceals faults, and erases transgressions.
In the Quran
Surah Az-Zumar (39:53): "Say: O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins."
