Al-Basit
The Expander
Meaning
Al-Basit is the One who expands, extends, and amplifies. He expands provision, expands hearts with joy, and spreads mercy far and wide. He is the One who makes the tight times give way to ease, who opens what was closed, who brings relief after hardship. After every winter comes spring; after every night comes dawn — this is the rhythm of Al-Basit. When He expands your heart, you feel a lightness and joy that no worldly possession can provide. When He expands your provision, wealth flows from directions you never expected. This name teaches us to be grateful during times of abundance and to remember that expansion comes only from Him.
In the Quran
Surah Ar-Ra'd (13:26): "Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts it. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except brief enjoyment."
