المجيد

Al-Majid

The Glorious

Meaning

Al-Majid is the One who possesses perfect glory — combining supreme greatness with supreme generosity. His glory is evident in the magnificence of His creation, the perfection of His attributes, and the generosity of His giving. A majestic king who is stingy is not truly glorious, and a generous person who lacks authority is not truly majestic — but Al-Majid combines absolute majesty with absolute generosity. His Throne is glorious, His Book is glorious, and His actions are glorious. When we send blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the Ibrahim prayer, we say "Innaka Hamidun Majid" — acknowledging that Allah is Praiseworthy and Glorious in all that He does.

In the Quran

Surah Hud (11:73): "The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Glorious (Majid)."

Daily Reflection

When you say "Innaka Hamidun Majid" in your prayer, do you contemplate what it means? Allah's glory combines greatness and generosity — do you expect great things from His generosity?

Today's Action

Do something glorious today — combine excellence with generosity. Whatever you do, do it with ihsan (excellence) and give generously in the process.

Dhikr

يا مجيد (Ya Majid)

Say it 100 times, contemplating Allah's combined glory and generosity.

Dua

اللهم يا مجيد تمجّدت بالعظمة والكرم فأكرمنا بقربك

O Allah, the Glorious, You are glorified with greatness and generosity, so honor us with nearness to You.
