As-Sabur
The Patient
Meaning
As-Sabur is the One whose patience is infinite and whose forbearance has no end. Despite witnessing every sin, every act of defiance, and every moment of ingratitude from His creation, He does not rush to punish. He gives time after time, chance after chance, opportunity after opportunity for His servants to return to Him. His patience is not weakness — it is supreme strength combined with supreme wisdom. He is patient with those who deny Him while eating His provision, patient with those who disobey Him while living on His earth, patient with those who ascribe partners to Him while breathing His air. And when His servants choose patience in their trials, He loves them for reflecting this attribute. As-Sabur rewards the patient without measure.
In the Quran
Surah Az-Zumar (39:10): "Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
