السميع

As-Sami'

The All-Hearing

Meaning

As-Sami' is the One who hears everything — every whisper, every thought verbalized, every prayer uttered, every cry for help, and even the silent plea of the heart. His hearing is not limited by distance, volume, or language. He hears the du'a of the mother praying for her child at midnight, the whisper of the oppressed calling out in a dungeon, and the silent tear of the heartbroken. When Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was amazed that Allah heard the complaint of Khawlah from above seven heavens, she understood the limitlessness of As-Sami'. This name assures us that no prayer goes unheard and no cry goes unnoticed.

In the Quran

Surah Al-Mujadilah (58:1): "Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allah. And Allah hears your dialogue; indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing."

Daily Reflection

Do you sometimes feel like your prayers disappear into silence? As-Sami' hears every word, every whisper, every silent thought. He has heard you all along.

Today's Action
