الحكم
Al-Hakam
The Judge
Meaning
Al-Hakam is the ultimate Judge whose judgment is final, perfect, and absolutely just. Unlike human judges who may be biased, uninformed, or corrupt, Al-Hakam judges with complete knowledge, perfect wisdom, and absolute fairness. He judges between people in their disputes, between truth and falsehood, between right and wrong. On the Day of Judgment, His ruling will settle every dispute, right every wrong, and give every soul exactly what it earned. This name gives hope to those who were wronged and never received justice in this world — Al-Hakam will judge with perfect equity. It also warns those who wrong others that no clever lawyer can sway this Judge.
In the Quran
Surah Ghafir (40:48): "Those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell: Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment. Allah has already judged between His servants."
Daily Reflection
Have you been wronged and never received justice? Trust that Al-Hakam will settle every account. No wrong will go unjudged, no right will go unrewarded.
Today's Action
Judge fairly today. If you must make a decision between people, be completely impartial. If you have been unjust to someone, correct it now before Al-Hakam judges you.
Dhikr
يا حكم (Ya Hakam)
Say it 100 times, trusting in Allah's perfect judgment.
Dua
اللهم يا حكم احكم لنا ولا تحكم علينا
