Day 33

العظيم

Al-'Azim

The Magnificent

Meaning

Al-'Azim is the One whose greatness and magnificence are beyond all comprehension. He is greater than anything the human mind can conceive. When we say "Subhana Rabbiyal-'Azim" in ruku, we acknowledge that His magnificence transcends our understanding. Everything in creation, no matter how vast — the galaxies, the oceans, the mountains — is insignificant compared to His greatness. This name puts everything in perspective: your problems, no matter how enormous they seem, are nothing before Al-'Azim. The entire universe is but a speck in His creation. When you feel overwhelmed, remember you are connected to the One whose magnificence dwarfs every challenge.

In the Quran

Surah Ash-Shura (42:4): "To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Magnificent (Al-'Azim)."

Daily Reflection

In your ruku, when you say "Subhana Rabbiyal-'Azim," do you truly contemplate His magnificence? How would your prayer change if you deeply felt these words?

Today's Action

Improve the quality of your ruku today. Pause, slow down, and truly contemplate the magnificence of Allah when you bow. Let the words carry weight.

Dhikr

سبحان ربي العظيم (Subhana Rabbiyal-'Azim)

Say it 33 times after each prayer with deep contemplation.

Dua

اللهم يا عظيم عظّم قدرك في قلبي واجعلني من المعظمين لشعائرك

O Allah, the Magnificent, magnify Your esteem in my heart and make me among those who honor Your rites.
