الشكور

Ash-Shakur

The Appreciative

Meaning

Ash-Shakur is the One who appreciates even the smallest good deed and rewards it with immense generosity. He multiplies good deeds by ten, by a hundred, by seven hundred, or by as much as He wills. A single sincere moment of worship can earn an eternity in Paradise. A cup of water given to a thirsty dog led to a person's forgiveness. A date given in charity can shield from the Fire. This is the generosity of Ash-Shakur — He accepts the little and gives the much, He accepts the imperfect and perfects the reward. No good deed is too small for His appreciation, and His reward always exceeds what is deserved.

In the Quran

Surah Fatir (35:30): "That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative (Ash-Shakur)."

Daily Reflection

Have you ever held back from a good deed because it seemed too small? Ash-Shakur appreciates the smallest act. What "small" good deed have you been neglecting?

Today's Action

Do many small good deeds today — smile, give salam, hold a door, pick up litter, say a kind word. Each one is noticed and appreciated by Ash-Shakur.

Dhikr

يا شكور (Ya Shakur)

Say it 100 times, thanking Allah for appreciating our meager efforts.

Dua

اللهم يا شكور اجعلني من الشاكرين واشكر لي قليل عملي

O Allah, the Appreciative, make me among the grateful and accept my little deeds.
