العلي

Al-'Ali

The Most High

Meaning

Al-'Ali is the One who is above all of creation in every sense — in His essence, His attributes, and His authority. He is above the heavens, above the Throne, above all limitations that apply to creation. His highness is not merely physical but encompasses status, power, and perfection. He is higher than every concept, greater than every imagination, and more exalted than every description. When you make sujood, you are placing the highest part of your body (your face) on the lowest place (the ground) before the Most High — and paradoxically, it is in this moment of physical lowness that you are spiritually closest to Al-'Ali.

In the Quran

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:255): "His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High (Al-'Ali), the Most Great."

Daily Reflection

In your moments of sujood — the position where you are closest to Al-'Ali — what do you ask for? Are you fully present in that moment of nearness?

Today's Action

Make your sujood longer today. Stay in that position of closeness to Al-'Ali and pour out your heart. Make du'a in sujood for something you deeply need.

Dhikr

سبحان ربي الأعلى (Subhana Rabbiyal-A'la)

Say it with deep meaning in every sujood today.

Dua

اللهم يا علي ارفعني إليك وقربني منك

O Allah, the Most High, raise me to You and bring me close to You.
