Al-Muqit
The Sustainer
Meaning
Al-Muqit is the One who sustains, nourishes, and maintains all of creation. He provides the exact sustenance each creature needs at precisely the right time and in exactly the right measure. This goes beyond physical nourishment — He sustains our souls with faith, our minds with knowledge, and our hearts with His remembrance. Every cell in your body is maintained by Al-Muqit, every heartbeat is sustained by Him, every breath is His provision. He watches over the sustenance He provides, ensuring it reaches its intended recipient. The ant in its hole, the fish in the deep sea, the bird in the sky — each receives its precise portion from Al-Muqit.
In the Quran
Surah An-Nisa (4:85): "Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a reward therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a burden therefrom. And ever is Allah, over all things, a Keeper (Al-Muqit)."
