القدوس

Al-Quddus

The Most Holy

Meaning

Al-Quddus means the One who is absolutely pure, free from any imperfection, deficiency, or resemblance to creation. He is beyond any flaw that the human mind might attribute to Him. Reflecting on this name purifies our understanding of who Allah is — He is not like anything we can imagine, and He is far above any shortcoming. The angels constantly glorify Him saying "Subbuhun Quddus" — acknowledging His transcendent purity. When we internalize this name, we strive to purify our own hearts, intentions, and actions, knowing we worship a God of absolute perfection.

In the Quran

Surah Al-Jumu'ah (62:1): "Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allah, the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
