المحصي
Al-Muhsi
The Appraiser
Meaning
Al-Muhsi is the One who counts, enumerates, and keeps precise record of all things. He knows the exact number of stars in the universe, grains of sand on every beach, leaves on every tree, and breaths each creature has taken. His counting is not an effort — it is an inherent knowledge. Every good deed and every sin is precisely recorded, every blessing is exactly accounted for, and every atom is perfectly tracked. Nothing is lost in His accounting, nothing is miscounted, and nothing is overlooked. This name humbles us with the realization that our lives are being precisely documented, and it comforts us with the knowledge that no good deed, however small, will go unrecorded.
In the Quran
Surah Maryam (19:94): "He has enumerated them and counted them a full counting."
Daily Reflection
If Allah counts everything precisely, how does that affect how you spend your time? Every minute is recorded — are you spending them wisely?
Today's Action
Take account of how you spent today. Count your prayers, your good deeds, and your wasted moments. Begin to live with the awareness that every moment is being precisely recorded.
Dhikr
يا محصي (Ya Muhsi)
Say it 100 times, aware that Allah counts every atom of your deeds.
Dua
اللهم يا محصي حاسبنا حسابًا يسيرًا ولا تحصِ علينا ذنوبنا
O Allah, the Appraiser, give us an easy accounting and do not count our sins against us.
