مالك الملك

Malik-ul-Mulk

Owner of Sovereignty

Meaning

Malik-ul-Mulk is the absolute Owner of all sovereignty and dominion. Every kingdom, every territory, every possession in existence belongs to Him. He grants sovereignty to whom He wills and takes it from whom He wills. The kings and rulers of the world are merely temporary stewards of what belongs to Malik-ul-Mulk. Alexander, Caesar, Genghis Khan — they all borrowed their power from Him, and He took it back. This name reminds us that all worldly possession is temporary and borrowed. Your home, your wealth, your position — none truly belong to you. They are trusts from Malik-ul-Mulk, and He can reclaim them at any time. True ownership belongs to Him alone.

In the Quran

Surah Aal-Imran (3:26): "Say: O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty (Malik-ul-Mulk), You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will."

Daily Reflection

What do you consider "yours"? Your home, your car, your career? None of it truly belongs to you — it all belongs to Malik-ul-Mulk. How does this change your attachment?

Today's Action

Use something you "own" for Allah's sake today. If you have a car, give someone a ride. If you have a home, host someone. If you have money, donate some. Return the trust to its true Owner.

Dhikr

يا مالك الملك (Ya Malikal-Mulk)

Say it 100 times, acknowledging that all you have belongs to Allah.

Dua

اللهم مالك الملك آتنا من فضلك وبارك لنا فيما رزقتنا

O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, grant us from Your bounty and bless us in what You have provided.
