المقسط

Al-Muqsit

The Equitable

Meaning

Al-Muqsit is the One who acts with perfect equity and fairness. While Al-'Adl emphasizes justice as an attribute, Al-Muqsit emphasizes the active implementation of justice. He gives every soul exactly what it deserves — no more, no less. He balances the scales of the universe with precision that no human system can match. His equity means that no prayer goes unheard, no good deed goes unrewarded, no oppression goes unpunished, and no suffering goes uncompensated. He loves those who are equitable and commands justice in all dealings. On the Day of Judgment, the scales will be set with absolute equity — and those who practiced qist (equity) in their lives will be on pulpits of light.

In the Quran

Surah Yunus (10:47): "And for every nation is a messenger. So when their messenger comes, it will be judged between them in justice (qist), and they will not be wronged."

Daily Reflection

Are you equitable in your dealings? Do you give people what they deserve, or are you biased toward those you favor? Al-Muqsit treats all with perfect equity.

Today's Action

Practice equity today. Treat everyone fairly regardless of their status, relationship to you, or what they can offer. Give each person their due right.

Dhikr

يا مقسط (Ya Muqsit)

Say it 100 times, asking Allah to make you among the equitable.

Dua

اللهم يا مقسط اجعلني من المقسطين الذين هم على منابر من نور

O Allah, the Equitable, make me among the just who are on pulpits of light.
