النور

An-Nur

The Light

Meaning

An-Nur is the Light of the heavens and the earth — the One who illuminates all existence. His light is not like physical light from the sun or a lamp. His light is the light of guidance, truth, knowledge, and beauty. Without His light, hearts would be in darkness, minds would be blind, and the world would be devoid of meaning. He guided you to Islam with His light, opened your heart to prayer with His light, and brought you to moments of clarity with His light. The famous Ayat an-Nur describes His light through the metaphor of a niche, a lamp, a glass like a brilliant star — layer upon layer of light. Those who follow His guidance walk in light; those who reject it stumble in darkness.

In the Quran

Surah An-Nur (24:35): "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth."

Daily Reflection

Where is Allah's light in your life? In the Quran you read, the prayers you perform, the guidance you follow? And where are the dark spots that need His light?

Today's Action

Bring light to someone's life today. Share a verse of Quran, offer guidance to someone confused, or simply bring joy to someone in darkness. Be a carrier of An-Nur's light.

Dhikr

يا نور (Ya Nur)

Say it 100 times, asking Allah to fill your heart, your home, and your path with divine light.

Dua

اللهم يا نور اجعل في قلبي نورًا وفي بصري نورًا وفي سمعي نورًا ومن فوقي نورًا ومن تحتي نورًا

O Allah, the Light, place light in my heart, in my sight, in my hearing, above me and below me.
