الباقي
Al-Baqi
The Everlasting
Meaning
Al-Baqi is the One who remains forever — the Everlasting who has no end. Everything in creation will perish, but Al-Baqi endures eternally. The universe will collapse, the stars will die, the earth will be flattened, and all souls will taste death — but Al-Baqi will remain unchanged, undiminished, and eternal. This name teaches us the most important lesson about priorities: invest in what lasts, not what perishes. The Quran says: "Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting." Your prayers, your good deeds, your faith — these are investments with Al-Baqi that never lose value. The good deeds you send forward will be waiting for you in a realm governed by the Everlasting, while everything you accumulated in this world will be left behind.
In the Quran
Surah Ar-Rahman (55:26-27): "Everyone upon it will perish. And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor."
Daily Reflection
Everything in this world will end. What are you investing in that will remain? The lasting deeds (al-baqiyat as-salihat) are what Al-Baqi preserves for you forever.
Today's Action
Invest in something everlasting today. Teach someone knowledge that will benefit beyond your lifetime, give charity that has ongoing reward, or plant a tree that will give shade for generations.
Dhikr
