الوارث

Al-Warith

The Inheritor

Meaning

Al-Warith is the One who inherits all things when everything else perishes. When every owner has died and every possessor has lost their possession, Al-Warith remains as the ultimate Owner. Everything returns to Him — every kingdom, every treasure, every life returns to its true Owner. This name puts all worldly possessions in perspective: we are temporary stewards, not permanent owners. A billionaire will leave every penny behind, a king will leave every throne, and the most powerful person will leave all their power — but Al-Warith inherits it all. This is why clinging to worldly things is foolish — they were never truly ours, and they will all return to Him.

In the Quran

Surah Al-Hijr (15:23): "And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor (Al-Warith)."

Daily Reflection

Everything you consider "yours" will eventually be inherited by Al-Warith. Does this realization change how tightly you hold onto your possessions?

Today's Action

Prepare what you will leave behind. Write or update your will (wasiyyah), plan your charitable legacy (sadaqah jariyah), and ensure you leave behind beneficial knowledge or good works.

Dhikr

يا وارث (Ya Warith)

Say it 100 times, remembering that everything returns to Allah.

Dua

اللهم يا وارث ورّثنا جنة الفردوس واجعلنا من ورثة الجنة

O Allah, the Inheritor, bequeath to us the highest Paradise and make us among the inheritors of Paradise.
